Crux Catalog provides essential metadata to describe the data contained in each data product. The metadata fields allow for efficient classification and retrieval of data products of interest. Whether you need to identify the right data products quickly or understand more about their origins and use cases, the metadata serves as your guide.
Below is a detailed description of each data product metadata available in the Crux Catalog.
Access Type
Specifies the type of source publishing updates to the data product.
Public: Indicates the data source is public and available to all users, typically free of charge. Some suppliers of public data products may still require licensing agreements and/or impose usage restrictions. Examples: Government datasets, open-source financial data, and public company reports.
Commercial: Indicates the data product is available under specific commercial terms and conditions. In addition to the Sphere by Crux - Managed Service subscription, an active subscription with the data supplier is required to establish ongoing data integration of the data in this data product. Examples: Proprietary financial data, market research reports, subscription-based financial services.
Availability
You can now filter data products by availability. “Available now” means the data product can be delivered to your destination(s) once your active subscription with the supplier is verified. “Available upon request” is reserved for data products Crux has previously offered but does not have active subscribers presently. Making them available to you will take an additional (on average) 2-3 weeks to activate and verify the data’s integrity.
Supplier
The name of the vendor or organization that publishes the data product. This helps identify and verify the source of the data.
Market Vertical
Categorize the data product according to its applicable business sector.
Alternative: Pertains to non-traditional data sets, which may offer unique insights outside conventional markets.
Financial: Related to traditional financial markets and data.
Category
Describes the general classification of the data supplied in the data product, such as ESG, macroeconomics, risk, ratings, reference data, etc.
Asset Class
Classifies the data according to the type of financial instruments or assets it pertains to, such as equities, credit, or commodities. It is useful for identifying specific investment types.
Region
Indicates the geopolitical area to which the data applies, aiding in regional analysis and decision-making. Possible values include Africa, Americas, Asia, EMEA, Europe, Global and Oceania.
Country
When a region is specified, the country name narrows down the relevance of the geographical data. This is essential for targeted market strategies or compliance needs.
